India Before Shivaji: The Deccan and the Mughals in the Early 1600s
Before Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj rose in the 1640s, India had been reshaped by nearly a century of wars. This documentary gives a political overview of the subcontinent in the early 1600s: the fall of Vijayanagara after the Battle of Talikota in 1565, the independent sultanates of the Deccan, the first European settlements, the growth of the Mughal Empire and the fall of the Nizam Shahi dynasty of Ahmednagar.
It opens Itiha's series on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
